  1. Today's reading includes the miracle of Jesus feeding the multitudes, and usually when I read this, I think of God's provision and how he is able to provide what we need and much more (there were even "leftovers" from this meal). But this time through, I noticed something different:

    Verse 32:
"Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said , I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat : and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way."

These people had been with Jesus three days. Some had not eaten in that long. Even those that perhaps had the forethought to pack a day's meal when they went to see him teach would have been fasting for two days. And they weren't asking Jesus to feed them...He simply had compassion on them. What they were doing is following Him, desiring to learn more about Him, and learning about His will for their lives.

Many times we think we'd have stronger faith if we saw some kind of miracle. These people had the FAITH first...and then saw the MIRACLE as s side-item. This multitude that He fed miraculously were the faithful who stayed, looking for His will and fasting, for three days. We expect the miracle without the wait oftentimes. What would happen if we waited and listened instead?
