What I found interesting in this passage is that the disciples thought that Jesus was talking about physical bread or that he was in some way concerned that they had brought no bread.
8 Which when Jesus perceived , he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? 9 Do ye not yet understand , neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up ? 10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
The miraculous feeding of multitudes was barely in the past, and they were already thinking about how they were going to be provided for or worried about how they were supposed to provide, rather than counting on God to provide for them.
We do the same thing! We receive a miraculous provision. Maybe a sudden windfall...or maybe the steady paycheck from a good job that God has provided. But then we start worrying about how other things are going to be paid for and other needs met. We need to rely on God to continuously provide...and not forget that only yesterday He was providing, and He is in the business of providing for our needs tomorrow, too!
